“The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone”
Matthew 21:42
Many times we take the words literally and
so we broke up with friends or assume ideas that can affect our interpersonal relationships. Many times our temptations are to read the scriptures in a literal way and identify the ancient people of Israel with the servants who rejected the prophets or Jesus himself. The Holy Scriptures in general and the parables
in particular have to be read in the social context in which they were written two thousand years ago.
Far from falling into the fault of criticizing others for their words or actions; it always comes to mind the example of the "fork"
that was given to the young Jesuits by our superior Father Jorge Bergoglio. In fact, the fork carries to the mouth of others this or
that and leaves us with nothing to ourselves.
In short, the others are those who have problems or those who do evil, but not us. That is why this parable is for each one of
us because we are called to produce fruits
of life and not death. Our fruits will be sweet if we are TOGETHER with Christ and will
be bitter fruits if we separate from Him. In other words, let us not be the source of criticism but rather full of HUMILITY, let
us ask ourselves how to open our hearts and bear fruit in good deeds. If we are with Christ and bear good fruit we will be those people filled with the Spirit of Truth who fill our church through prayer and good works at the service of the poor. Do not fear to give abundant fruits
of life according to the example of Jesus
and the God of peace will be with us.
"The generosity and providence of God tells us that God himself trusts us and each one of us has to respond with freedom, confidence and responsibility."
